Overview
WARRANTY & MANUFACTURING DEFECT POLICY
At Hansuli, we take pride in the craftsmanship, quality, and finishing of every piece of jewellery we create.
Every piece is inspected before it is dispatched or handed over to the customer. However, jewellery is a delicate product and can naturally experience wear, scratches, tarnishing, bending, or damage through regular use.
This Warranty & Manufacturing Defect Policy explains what Hansuli considers a manufacturing defect, what is considered normal wear and tear, and how customers can raise a warranty claim.
Purpose Of This Policy
This policy is intended to:
- Protect customers against genuine manufacturing defects;
- Establish a fair warranty process;
- Explain what is covered and what is not;
- Distinguish manufacturing defects from accidental damage;
- Explain the inspection and claim process;
- Set reasonable expectations regarding jewellery maintenance and longevity.
This policy applies only to eligible Hansuli jewellery and does not replace any statutory consumer rights available under applicable law.
What Is A Manufacturing Defect?
A manufacturing defect is generally a fault that existed in the product because of an error or deficiency in the manufacturing, assembly, soldering, setting, finishing, or workmanship process.
Depending on the jewellery, examples may include:
- A defective solder joint that fails without unusual force or impact;
- A clasp that fails because of defective assembly;
- A component incorrectly attached during manufacturing;
- A stone that is improperly set due to a workmanship issue;
- A structural joint that fails due to inadequate manufacturing;
- A significant manufacturing-related defect in the product’s construction;
- A component that separates due to defective workmanship under normal and reasonable use.
The final determination of whether an issue is a manufacturing defect shall be made by Hansuli after inspection.
What Is Not A Manufacturing Defect?
The following are generally not considered manufacturing defects:
- Normal scratches
- Minor dents
- Surface marks
- Tarnishing
- Oxidisation
- Loss of shine
- Natural patina
- Plating wear
- Discolouration caused by chemicals
- Damage caused by perfume or cosmetics
- Damage caused by sweat or moisture
- Damage caused by chlorine
- Damage caused by accidental impact
- Bent jewellery
- Broken jewellery caused by pulling or excessive force
- Damage caused by dropping the jewellery
- Damage caused by improper storage
- Damage caused by unauthorised repair
- Damage caused by improper cleaning
- Damage caused by normal ageing
- Damage caused by misuse
- Loss of jewellery
- Loss of stones caused by impact or improper handling
Warranty Period
Unless a different warranty period is specifically mentioned for a particular product:
Hansuli Jewellery Warranty: To be confirmed by Hansuli.
The warranty begins from the date shown on the original Hansuli invoice.
The warranty is applicable only to the original purchaser unless otherwise expressly agreed by Hansuli.
What The Warranty Covers
Subject to inspection, the warranty may cover genuine manufacturing defects affecting:
Metal & Structure
- Defective structural joints
- Manufacturing-related solder failures
- Incorrectly assembled components
- Certain manufacturing-related cracks or breaks
Clasps & Fasteners
- Defective clasps
- Defective hooks
- Manufacturing-related fastening failures
Stone Setting
Where applicable, a stone that becomes loose or falls out because of a verified manufacturing or setting defect may be covered.
However, stone loss resulting from impact, accidental damage, snagging, improper handling, or normal wear is generally not covered.
Tarnishing Is Not A Manufacturing Defect
Silver naturally reacts with its environment.
Hansuli jewellery may develop:
- Black colour
- Grey colour
- Yellowish colour
- Brownish colour
- Dullness
- Surface patina
This is known as tarnishing or oxidation-related surface change.
Tarnishing is a natural characteristic of silver and is not covered as a manufacturing defect.
Please refer to the Hansuli Jewellery Care Policy for information on preventing and removing tarnish.
Scratches Are Not A Manufacturing Defect
Silver is a relatively soft metal compared with many materials used in everyday environments.
Minor scratches and surface marks can naturally occur through use.
Examples include scratches caused by:
- Clothing
- Other jewellery
- Furniture
- Bags
- Keys
- Daily activities
- Storage
- Regular handling
Such scratches are considered normal wear and tear.
Bent Or Deformed Jewellery
Silver jewellery may bend or deform when subjected to pressure or force.
Examples include:
- Sitting on jewellery
- Accidentally stepping on jewellery
- Bending a bangle
- Pulling a chain
- Applying excessive pressure to a ring
- Forcing a clasp
- Improperly adjusting jewellery
Such damage is generally not covered under warranty.
Chain Breakage
Chains are delicate and can break when subjected to:
- Pulling
- Snagging
- Sudden force
- Catching on clothing
- Sleeping while wearing them
- Exercise
- Accidental impact
- Improper handling
A broken chain will be inspected to determine whether the break resulted from a manufacturing defect or external force.
Not every broken chain qualifies for warranty repair.
Clasp & Hook Damage
Clasps and hooks are mechanical components that experience repeated use.
Damage caused by:
- Pulling
- Forced opening
- Incorrect fastening
- Accidental impact
- Snagging
- Excessive tension
is generally not covered.
A clasp that fails because of a verified manufacturing defect may qualify for warranty service.
Stone Loss
A lost stone is not automatically considered a manufacturing defect.
Hansuli may inspect:
- Stone setting
- Setting structure
- Surrounding metal
- Signs of impact
- Scratches or dents
- Evidence of bending
- Wear around the setting
If the stone loss resulted from a verified manufacturing or setting defect, Hansuli may provide an appropriate remedy subject to the warranty terms.
If the loss resulted from impact, accidental damage, improper handling, or normal wear, charges may apply.
Gold Plating / Silver Plating
Plating is a surface treatment and naturally wears with use.
The speed of plating wear depends on:
- Frequency of use
- Sweat
- Skin chemistry
- Friction
- Perfume
- Cosmetics
- Water
- Chemicals
- Storage
- Cleaning
Normal fading or wearing of plating is generally not covered under warranty.
Where re-plating is available, it may be offered as a paid service.
Oxidised Jewellery
Some Hansuli jewellery may intentionally feature an oxidised or antique finish.
Over time, the appearance of an oxidised finish may change due to:
- Friction
- Polishing
- Sweat
- Water
- Chemicals
- Regular use
Changes to an intentionally oxidised finish are generally considered normal wear and are not automatically a manufacturing defect.
Resizing
Jewellery that has been resized or altered at the customer’s request may not remain eligible for the original warranty coverage for the modified area.
Examples include:
- Ring resizing
- Bangle adjustment
- Chain modification
- Hook modification
- Custom alterations
If a customer requests an alteration, the customer may be informed that the altered area is subject to separate repair/service conditions.
Custom-Made Jewellery
Custom-made and personalised jewellery may be subject to specific warranty terms.
The warranty may cover genuine manufacturing defects but generally does not cover:
- Customer-requested design characteristics
- Incorrect customer-provided measurements
- Changes requested after approval
- Wear and tear
- Damage caused by use
- Changes in preference
- Damage following unauthorised alteration
Repaired Jewellery
If Hansuli repairs jewellery under warranty, the repair shall generally be limited to the verified defect.
Repairing one part of a jewellery item does not automatically create a new warranty covering every component of the jewellery.
If a repaired component develops an issue due to the repair workmanship, Hansuli may inspect the item and determine the appropriate remedy.
Third-Party Repairs
Warranty coverage may become void or limited if jewellery has been:
- Repaired by another jeweller;
- Resized by another jeweller;
- Soldered by another jeweller;
- Polished aggressively;
- Re-plated by another jeweller;
- Modified;
- Engraved;
- Altered;
- Chemically treated.
Unauthorised third-party work may make it difficult or impossible for Hansuli to determine the original cause of damage.
Normal Wear & Tear
Jewellery is designed to be worn, and signs of use naturally develop over time.
Normal wear may include:
- Fine scratches
- Small surface marks
- Minor dullness
- Tarnishing
- Patina
- Minor loss of polish
- Plating wear
- Minor deformation caused by use
- Changes in oxidised finish
Normal wear and tear is not covered under warranty.
Accidental Damage
Accidental damage is not generally covered.
This may include damage caused by:
- Dropping jewellery
- Impact
- Pulling
- Crushing
- Bending
- Snagging
- Sports
- Exercise
- Sleeping
- Household activities
- Improper storage
- Contact with machinery
- Contact with chemicals
Hansuli may offer paid repair services for such damage where technically possible.
Chemical Damage
Damage resulting from contact with chemicals is not generally covered under warranty.
Examples include exposure to:
- Perfume
- Deodorant
- Cosmetics
- Hair spray
- Chlorine
- Bleach
- Cleaning products
- Detergents
- Acids
- Solvents
- Other corrosive substances
Customers should follow Hansuli’s Jewellery Care Policy.
Water Damage
Silver itself can tolerate limited exposure to ordinary conditions, but repeated exposure to water, soap, chlorine, salt water, or chemicals may affect jewellery.
Damage caused by:
- Swimming
- Chlorinated water
- Salt water
- Bathing
- Showering
- Prolonged moisture
may not be covered under warranty.
Loss Of Jewellery
The warranty does not cover jewellery that has been:
- Lost
- Misplaced
- Stolen
- Disposed of accidentally
Customers are responsible for securely storing and wearing their jewellery.
Warranty Does Not Cover Change Of Mind
The warranty does not cover:
- Change of preference
- Change of colour preference
- Change of size preference
- Design preference
- Desire for a different product
- Product no longer matching an outfit
- Customer dissatisfaction caused by normal wear
Exchange or return requests are governed separately by Hansuli’s Exchange & Return Policy.

- Damaged area
- Clasp
- Stone setting
- Broken component
- Overall condition
A photographic assessment is preliminary.
Final warranty determination may require physical inspection.
Physical Inspection

The inspection may consider:
- Location of damage
- Break pattern
- Metal condition
- Solder joint
- Stone setting
- Signs of impact
- Scratches
- Bending
- Chemical exposure
- Previous repair
- General wear
- Age of jewellery
- Construction of the product
The decision will be based on the available evidence and the applicable warranty terms.
Who Pays For Shipping During A Warranty Claim?
Where a claim is determined by Hansuli to be a genuine manufacturing defect covered under warranty, Hansuli may, at its discretion and subject to the applicable circumstances, bear reasonable repair/replacement shipping costs.
Where the issue is determined not to be a covered manufacturing defect, the customer may be responsible for applicable shipping and repair charges.
The exact treatment will be communicated to the customer before proceeding where reasonably possible.
Warranty Remedies
If Hansuli determines that a genuine manufacturing defect exists, Hansuli may, depending on the circumstances:
1. Repair the jewellery; 2. Replace a defective component; 3. Replace the product; 4. Provide another appropriate remedy permitted under applicable law.
The remedy will depend on:
- Nature of the defect
- Availability of components
- Product condition
- Product availability
- Feasibility of repair
- Applicable law
A cash refund is not automatically available merely because a product has a defect.
Where applicable law requires a particular remedy, Hansuli will comply with such requirements.
Replacement Product
Where replacement is approved, Hansuli may provide:
- The same product, where available; or
- A substantially equivalent product where the original product is unavailable,
subject to applicable law and agreement with the customer.
Custom or discontinued products may require a different resolution.
Repeated Repair
If a product develops a recurring issue, Hansuli may review the history of the product and previous repairs.
Depending on the circumstances, Hansuli may determine whether:
- Further repair is appropriate;
- Replacement is appropriate;
- The issue is related to normal wear;
- The product requires a different restoration method.
No Warranty For Unauthorised Modification
Warranty coverage may be limited or void where a product has been modified without Hansuli’s approval.
This includes:
- Engraving
- Cutting
- Soldering
- Resizing
- Stone replacement
- Re-plating
- Reshaping
- Component replacement
- Other structural alterations
Handcrafted Jewellery
Hansuli specialises in handcrafted and traditional jewellery.
Minor variations may naturally occur in:
- Texture
- Shape
- Thickness
- Surface finish
- Engraving
- Oxidisation
- Weight
- Colour
Such variations are inherent to handcrafted production and do not automatically constitute manufacturing defects.
Traditional / Heritage Jewellery
Traditional jewellery may have design characteristics that differ from modern mass-produced jewellery.
Certain pieces may intentionally feature:
- Handmade textures
- Uneven surfaces
- Antique finishes
- Handcrafted details
- Traditional construction methods
These characteristics are part of the jewellery’s design and heritage and should not automatically be interpreted as defects.
Silver Weight Variation
Minor variations in jewellery weight may occur due to:
- Handcrafting
- Polishing
- Finishing
- Production tolerances
- Component variation
Where the product is sold by actual weight, the applicable final weight and pricing shall be reflected in the invoice as required.

Customers are expected to follow Hansuli’s Jewellery Care Policy.
Failure to follow recommended care instructions may result in:
- Tarnishing
- Surface damage
- Plating loss
- Stone damage
- Structural damage
- Discolouration
Such issues may not qualify for warranty service.

Customers should retain the original invoice as proof of purchase.
Proof Of Purchase
Hansuli may require:
- Original invoice
- Order number
- Purchase record
- Registered mobile number
- Other reasonable proof of purchase
before processing a warranty claim.

Important Distinction
A broken piece is not automatically a defective piece.
A jewellery item can break because of:
Manufacturing defect: The construction or workmanship was defective.
Normal wear: The jewellery has naturally worn down through regular use.
Accidental damage: The jewellery experienced force, impact, pulling, bending, chemicals, or improper handling.
Hansuli will assess the cause rather than simply the appearance of the damage.
